Hello.

I am an internationally awarded and globally recognised food + lifestyle photographer, food stylist, and three-time cookbook author. I am based in Sydney, Australia.

My awards include the prestigious James Beard award for food photography, and recently I won the Irish cookbook photographer of the year in Nov 2022.

For the past 14 years I have worked around the globe shooting and styling for various high-profile clients in the food, restaurant, publishing and advertising industries, including Sainsbury's, Martha Stewart, The Dinner Ladies, Masterfoods, Food and Wine NYC, Tescos UK, Qantas, Conde Nast, Woolworths, to name but a few.

I have worked as a contributor to Delicious Magazine, for whom I wrote, styled, and photographed a monthly 8-page feature for 2 years alongside the likes of Jamie Oliver, Nigella Lawson, and many preeminent Australian chefs. I am also an accomplished food stylist and recipe developer.

Before becoming a photographer, I worked for 14 years as a graphic designer and art director for leading design studios in Dublin, Australia, and the US. These areas of expertise and a meticulous eye for detail allow me to produce incredible food and lifestyle images for print from a well-rounded and creative perspective. I consistently think from an editorial POV due to my years creating advertising and layouts for design clients.

My expertise as a: cook, food and prop stylist, and photographer lends my extensive skill set very well to cookbook projects, as I am very much a hands-on artist and have produced Award-winning personal cookbooks with Penguin Books Australia and publishers in Ireland, which means I fully understand cookbook production demands from concept to print output.

In my spare time, I write and photograph the well-known and much-loved food blog What Katie ate.
